After successfully attacking an enemy, you may find that they don’t go down in one hit. The timing of this attack is crucial, as if you fail to release the button when you hear the audio cue, you’ll either be attacked or your weapon will fail to deal an adequate amount of damage to the enemy. If you time your release of the A button correctly, you will hit them with your weapon. You’ll hear an audio cue after a period of time, at which point you should release the A button. Once they attack, you must hold the A button and push the analog stick forwards in order to retaliate. When an enemy has you in their sights, you’ll see the eye next to your dopamine meter turn yellow. While it is always better to approach a predator before they approach you, you’ll still get ample opportunity to respond to their attacks if they manage to sneak up on your monkey. You can use your scent to locate a nearby enemy, though as enemy encounters slow down time, it doesn’t matter too much if they get the jump on you.
